Francesco Gonzaga (1606-1622)
Francesco Gonzaga , also Francesco Paulo (born June 7, 1606 in Charleville , † October 13, 1622 ibid) was the eldest son of Duke Carlo I Gonzaga of Nevers and Rethel . His mother, Catherine de Lorraine (1585-1618) was the daughter of Charles II. De Lorraine, duc de Mayenne .
He received the Duchy of Rethel as Hereditary Duke from his father, and in the regent list of the Duchy he is named Francesco III. run by Rethel. He was also governor of Champagne and Brie . Francesco Gonzaga died at the age of 16 before his father. After the death of his father in 1637, the title passed to his younger brother Carlo II Gonzaga . He died in Charleville, the city his father founded the year he was born, and was buried at the Paulaner Convent in Nevers.
