Francis Henry Smith

Francis Henry Smith (* 1868 in Long Bay, Tasmania , † 17th August 1936 ) was a New Zealand politician of the Reform Party .

biography

Smith was born in Long Bay near Strahan in Tasmania in 1868 . He emigrated to New Zealand with his parents and attended schools in Burkes Pass and Timaru .

In the general election of 1896 he ran in the constituency of Timaru but was defeated by incumbent William Hall-Jones .

It was in 1911 in the constituency Waitaki for the House of Representatives elected, but was in 1914 defeated in Timaru.
