Francisco Giralte
Francisco Giralte (* 1510 in Palencia , † 1576 in Madrid ) was a Spanish sculptor of the Renaissance .
The student and later collaborator Alonso Berruguete at the choir of the Cathedral of Toledo created an altar for the church of Santa María Magdalena in Valladolid . Another altar can be found today in the Dözesamuseum in Valladolid. There are also several attributions in the Cathedral of Palencia . In Madrid he worked on the altar of the bishop's chapel. Stylistically he followed his master Berruguete, with dynamically twisting figures and expressive facial features. A certain decorative exuberance and horror vacui connects him with mannerism and specifically with his contemporary Juan de Juni .
