Francisco José Iturriza Guillén

Francisco José Iturriza Guillén SDB (born May 21, 1903 in Valencia , † January 14, 2003 in Coro ) was a Venezuelan religious priest and Roman Catholic bishop .

The son of the lawyer Francisco Iturriza y Mercedes Elvira Guillén first went to the Liceo de la Divina Pastora , but then switched to the College Don Bosco, which was then under the direction of Father Enrique De Ferrari SDB. It was there that his calling to become the Salesian of Don Bosco was awakened. He entered the novitiate of Mosquera near Bogotá and made his first profession in 1926. He was ordained a priest in 1930 and then served in the Salesian colleges in Valencia, Caracas and Valera . The National Congress of the Republic elected him Bishop of Coro in 1939 , which was confirmed by the Holy See. He was made by MonsignorLucas Guillermo Castillo , Archbishop of Caracas, ordained bishop. On February 18, 1940, he took possession of his diocese.

His remains are in the Santa Ana de Coro Cathedral .
