Francisco Ruiz Tagle

Francisco Ruiz Tagle (* probably before 1790 in Santiago de Chile ; † March 23, 1860 ) was a Chilean politician . In 1830 he was temporarily president of his country.

From 1811 he represented the Los Andes constituency in the House of Representatives. From 1812 to 1814 he served as Senator and President of Parliament, he also held the office of Mayor of Santiago and, in the meantime, that of Provincial Governor. In 1822 he was president of the assembly that was supposed to seal the recognition of Peru's independence . Under President Francisco Antonio Pinto Díaz, he held the post of finance minister .

In the course of the revolution of 1829 he took part from November 7, 1829 in the government junta, which appointed him as a candidate for the next presidential election and on February 18, 1830 as transitional president.

After internal debates within the junta, he resigned after six weeks in office on March 31, 1830 in favor of Vice-President José Tomás Ovalle .

During the reign of President Manuel Bulnes Prieto , Ruiz was appointed State Councilor.
