Francisco Sardá

Francisco Sardá , full name: Francisco Sardá Gaspa , was a Spanish rugby player and coach.

First a member of the CFBarcelona in the field of gymnastics / athletics and in 1922 trained on the premises at calle de Industria , he was also part of the council of elders of the CN Barcelona . In 1923 he made his first attempts at rugby with the Júpiter team . For now, however, he returned to gymnastics. From 1925 he played rugby again at Sant Andreu and was a co-founder, first of the Olympic team, and later of the European team. After the gradual dissolution of these teams, he joined the team of CF Barcelona . In 1944 he ended his active career.

During his playing days he won three national championships in addition to regional titles in 1932, 1942 and 1944. He also played internationally and competed with the Spanish selection in 1929 against Italy at the opening of the Estadio de Montjuich . He played other international matches against the German national team in Dresden and in Barcelona against Romania's national team. He also played in the regional selection and met opponents in Barcelona and Madrid, but also took part in games abroad against regional selections there, for example in Hanover , Berlin , Toulouse , Paris , Milan and Rome .

In 1953 he was awarded the silver medal of the Spanish Association, which has recorded a total of four international matches for him since 1927. In 1954 he coached the team at CN Barcelona, ​​which he formed in 1945 with his assistance.
