Franco Grillini

Franco Grillini (born March 14, 1955 in Pianoro ) is an Italian politician , psychologist , journalist and LGBT activist.

Life

After finishing school, Grillini studied and after university worked as a psychologist and journalist. In the 1970s he went into politics and joined the Italian party Partito di Unità Proletaria . In 1985 Grillini ran for the Italian Communist Party . With the split in the Italian Communist Party , Grillini joined the Partito Democratico della Sinistra (Democratic Party of the Left), which became the Democratici di Sinistra (Democrats of the Left).

In 2001 Grillini was elected as a member of the Italian parliament for the Democratici di Sinistra party , and in 2006 he was re-elected as a member. 2007 Grillini left his party and joined first the Sinistra Democratica and then the Partito Socialista (today: Partito Socialista Italiano ). In 1990, 1995 and 1999 Grillini had previously been elected regional representative of the Province of Bologna .

Grillini founded the organization LILA (Italian League Against Aids) in 1987. In 1997, Grillini founded the organization LIFF ( Italian Common Law Families League ), which works for the legal recognition of homosexual couples. On May 29, 1998, Grillini opened the first Italian press agency for 'gay' news: NOI ( Italian Gay News ), for which he has been writing articles for many years. Grillini has been honorary president of the LGBT organization Arcigay since 1998 , which he co-founded and chaired for several years from 1987 to 1998.
