Franco rest

Franco Rest (born August 20, 1942 in Ferrara ) is a German death benefit and ethics researcher .

Life

The rest of them studied educational science, Catholic theology , philosophy , art history and archeology in Münster, Würzburg and Freiburg / Breisgau. First he became a primary school teacher, then a high school teacher and finally a teacher in vocational training. Since 1972 he has been Professor of Education, Social Philosophy and Social Ethics at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Dortmund , in the Department of Applied Social Sciences. In 1980 he received his doctorate as Dr. ped. at the University of Münster. Remainder was dean of the social work department at the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences from 1998 to 2002; and from 2002 to 2005 Vice Rector for Studies, Teaching, Study Reform, Evaluation and Further Education at the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences. From 2003 to 2010 he was scientific director of the Dietrich Oppenberg Academy for hospice education and culture .

Since 1973 he has been conducting research on terminal care , hospice work , anti- euthanasia , network formation and thanatology with the support of the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia, the Volkswagenwerk Foundation and the North Rhine-Westphalia Welfare Foundation. Further areas of research are alternative schools ( Waldorf education ), peace education , upheavals (about-turns) in human life and the ethics of care.

From 1978 to 2000 the rest was a board member of the "More humanity in hospital and practice" of the North Rhine Medical Association , Düsseldorf. In 1985 he was co-founder and since 1987 scientific advisory board of "OMEGA - Living with dying". From 1988 to 1999 Rest worked as an advisor to the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia for the development and expansion of outpatient and inpatient hospice services . From 1994 to 1998 he was a board member of the State Working Group on Hospices and Hospice Initiatives ("Hospizarbeitsgemeinschaft" HAG eV) in North Rhine-Westphalia; and 1989–2005 at the Advisory Board for the Institute for Social Gerontology in Dortmund. He has been chairman of “DELTA - Living and Dying in Accompaniment” since 1992 and has been a member of the ethics working group of the German Alzheimer's Society , Berlin, since 2000 .

Rest is the author of over 300 publications and in 2006 received the State Order of Merit of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and the research award of the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences for " hospice research" for his services to the hospice movement in Germany .
