Franjo Vlašić
Franjo Vlašić (born April 24, 1766 in Dombóvár , Tolna county ; † May 16, 1840 in Zagreb , Zagreb county ) was a Croatian nobleman , general and ban (viceroy) of Croatia from 1832 to 1840.
Vlašić was a member of a noble family called Vlašić from southern Croatia. In 1832 he received the title of baron from the Austrian Emperor and Croatian-Hungarian King Ferdinand I of Habsburg-Lothringen .
He was promoted to Ban on February 10, 1832 . Until his death he resisted the Magyarization and entered a. a. for the abolition of Hungarian as a compulsory subject in Croatian schools. Thus belonged to the intellectual and political trailblazers of the Illyrian movement . He was succeeded as Ban by Juraj Haulik .
