Frank Adloff

Frank Adloff (* 1969 in Wuppertal ) is a German sociologist .

Career

Between 1990 and 1995 Frank Adloff studied sociology, philosophy and economics at the Philipps University of Marburg , the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena and the Free University of Berlin . In 2002 he received his doctorate at the Free University of Berlin, in 2004 he was Theodor Heuss Lecturer at the New School for Social Research . In 2009 he completed his habilitation at the University of Göttingen . From 2007 to 2009 he was Professor of North American Sociology at the John F. Kennedy Institute for North American Studies at the Free University of Berlin, and from 2010 to 2016 he held the Chair of General and Cultural Sociology at the FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg . Since September 2016, as part of a cluster appointment on the topic of sustainability, he has been professor of sociology, in particular dynamics and regulation of economy and society, in the Department of Social Economics at Hamburg University.

Frank Adloff's research interests lie in the following areas: sociological theory , cultural sociology , political sociology , civil society , gift theory , philanthropy , convivialism, post-growth and the growth-critical movement , sustainability , alternative economies, sociology of affect.
