Frank Cady

Frank Randolph Cady (born September 8, 1915 in Susanville , California - † June 8, 2012 in Wilsonville , Oregon ) was an American actor .

Life

While in high school, Frank Cady worked for the local newspaper, The Lassen County Advocate . The family later moved to Wilsonville, Oregon. He studied acting and journalism at Stanford University . During his time he met his future wife Shirley and wrote for the Stanford Chaparral . After completing his studies, he moved to London, where, in addition to several appearances at the Westminster Theater, he also appeared on the BBC. In 1939 he returned to Stanford, where he lectured. Shortly thereafter, he moved to California, where he worked as an announcer and news anchor for several radio stations. During World War II , he served with the United States Army Air Forces as a newscaster in England, France and Germany.

After his discharge from the military in 1946, Cady moved back to Los Angeles , where he was on the theater stage and occasionally in smaller supporting roles in films such as The Street of the Successful , Father of the Bride and Judgment Day . He was able to establish himself as an actor and, in addition to major roles in feature films, also played with the character of Doc Williams in the family series The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet , which he embodied in 61 episodes from 1953 to 1964, his first major role with which he was Breakthrough came. His most famous role, however, was that of shop owner Sam Drucker, which he played in a total of three different television series. He played the popular character with the public from 1963 in 165 episodes of the television series Petticoat Junction , from 1965 in 141 episodes in Green Acres and from 1968 to 1970 in the series The Beverly Hillbillies .

Cady died on June 8, 2012 at the age of 96. He was married to his wife Shirley from 1940 until her death in 2008. Both had two children together. When he died, he also left three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
