Frank Lloyd (* 1952 in Cornwall ) is a British horn player .

Lloyd made his first musical experience at the age of thirteen with the trombone in the brass band of his school and then switched to the horn. He first played in the Royal Marines Brass Band and then studied with Ifor James at the Royal Academy of Music in London . Just three months after starting his studies, he became principal horn in the Scottish National Orchestra, now the Royal Scottish National Orchestra .

From 1979 to 1982 he was principal horn with the London Royal Philharmonic Orchestra . He also devoted himself to chamber music and his solo career. He has worked regularly as a horn player in the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble , the English Chamber Orchestra and the Nash Ensemble .

He was also a professor at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and Trinity College of Music , both in London. In 1998, Lloyd was appointed to succeed Hermann Baumann as professor at the Folkwang University in Essen.

Lloyd was Chairman of the International Horn Society from 2005 to 2006 and was re-elected for the post in 2011.
