Frank Monroe Clark (born December 24, 1915 in Bessemer , Lawrence County , Pennsylvania , †  June 17, 2003 in New Castle , Pennsylvania) was an American politician . Between 1955 and 1974 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Frank Clark attended the public schools of his home country and then the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics . During World War II , he served in the United States Army Air Corps in Europe from 1942 to 1945 . Later he was a reservist in the Air Force, founded in 1947 . He held the rank of major. After the war he was chief of police in his hometown of Bessemer until 1954. Politically, he joined the Democratic Party . In 1952 he ran unsuccessfully for Congress .

In the 1954 congressional election , Clark was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the 25th  constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded Republican Louis E. Graham on January 3, 1955 . After nine re-elections, he was able to complete almost ten legislative terms in Congress by December 31, 1974 . During this time, the Vietnam War , the civil rights movement and 1974 the Watergate Affair took place . During his time as a congressman, Clark was an American delegate to many international conferences. In 1974 he was not re-elected. He resigned his mandate four days before the official end of his last term.

In 1976, 1978 and 1990 Clark sought unsuccessfully to nominate his party for the respective congressional elections. In 1979 he pleaded guilty to fraud and tax evasion. After 1990 he no longer appeared politically. He died on June 17, 2003 in New Castle.
