Frank Neupert (born September 29, 1965 in Frankfurt / Oder ) was a football player in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of the GDR Football Association . He played there for FC Vorwärts Frankfurt (Oder) and BSG Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt .

Athletic career

FC Forward Frankfurt (Oder)

Neupert grew up in Eisenhüttenstadt and began his football career there with the offspring of the company sports association (BSG) Stahl. At the age of 13 he switched to the youth team of the top club of the GDR Army Sports Association , FC Vorwärts Frankfurt (Oder), and became a student at the Frankfurt children's and youth sports school . When the junior league was revived by the GDR Football Association for the 1983/84 season, FC Vorwärts was also one of the participating teams. Neupert, who was 17 at the start of the season, was one of them as a midfielder. He and his team were GDR junior champions at the end of the season. Then he was taken over into the squad of the second team of FC Vorwärts, which played in the second-rate GDR league . Neupert was part of the second team until 1988, and from 1986 he was the team captain. At the beginning of the 1987/88 season he was also used in four league games of the 1st team. He played his first league game on August 22, 1987 as a substitute in the 58th minute of the match on the third match day between FC Vorwärts and FC Carl Zeiss Jena (1-0). He had other league appearances on the 4th, 5th and 6th game day, in which he was a midfielder in the starting eleven. In addition, he played twelve point games with the 2nd team this season. For FC Vorwärts II, Neupert completed a total of 87 point games in the GDR league from 1984 to 1988, scoring nine goals. During these years he was a member of the GDR People's Army . In the spring of 1988 he was dismissed from the army, and with that, his membership in FC Vorwärts Frankfurt ended.

Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt

From the 1988/89 season on Neupert played for the GDR league club Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt. As a central midfielder, he immediately won a regular place in the GDR league team, only missed four point games and scored five goals. This also made him one of the guarantors of the surprising promotion to the league. In the league season 1989/90 he was only able to play 13 of the 26 point games due to injury. The same fate befell him in 1990/91, when he could only be used in eight championship games. At the end of the season he also missed the final game of the GDR soccer cup, which his team lost 1-0 to FC Hansa Rostock. Since the GDR league was then stopped due to the transfer of the GDR football association to the DFB , Neupert had 21 league games with three goals for the company sports association Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt and its successor club Eisenhüttenstädter FC Stahl .

Recreational footballer

Then Neupert took a football break. Between 1994 and 2000 he was active at Müllroser SV in the Brandenburg state class. Then he played for SV Blau-Weiß Groß Lindow in 1909 in the same national league, in 2009 he was part of the Groß Lindow old men team.
