Frank Ross (producer)

Frank Ross (born August 12, 1904 in Boston , Massachusetts , † February 18, 1990 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American film producer.

Life

Ross graduated from Princeton University . In 1929 and 1930 he tried his hand at acting and took part in three productions. From 1939 - he started with Von Mäusen und Menschen - until the 1970s he worked as a film producer.

In 1943 he made his debut as a screenwriter and participated in the film Always More, Always Happy . In 1966 he wrote the story for the film Not So Fast, My Boy . His only directorial work followed in 1951 with The Lady Says No.

In 1944, Ross was nominated for an Oscar in the categories of Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Original Story for the film Always More, Always Happy, along with his colleagues Richard Flournoy , Lewis R. Foster and Robert Russell . Two years later he received an honorary Oscar , and in 1954 he was nominated again for the film award.

From 1932 to 1949 Frank Ross was married to the actress Jean Arthur . His second marriage from 1950 to actress Joan Caulfield lasted ten years. His third marriage in 1961 to actress Joan Bradshaw and divorced in 1974.

Ross died in 1990 as a result of complications from brain surgery. He left a son from a second marriage and 2 children from a third marriage.
