Frank Schweihs
Francis "Frank" John Schweihs (* February 7, 1932 in Chicago ; † July 23, 2008 in ibid.) Was a German - American mobster from the Chicago outfit , who was therefore also known as "The German" . His name is always brought in connection with the death of Marilyn Monroe when the murder of the actress by the American Cosa Nostra is considered possible.
Before his death, Schweihs was charged with providing information about various murders ; u. a. about the murder of Anthony Spilotro and his brother Michael , which was filmed in the movie Casino . He is also said to have information about the murder of the team star Allen Dorfman , the informant Dick Cain , the head of Outfit Sam Giancana , the loan shark and killer "Mad Sam" DeStefano , the hit man Chuckie Nicoletti, etc.
The trial with prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald and judge James Zagel was the result of the FBI operation “Family Secrets”, which in 2005 led to various arrests. Together with Frank Schweihs, James Marcello , Joseph Lombardo (78), Frank Calabrese (70), Anthony Doyle, a former police officer, and Paul Schiro were on trial. There were no usable statements by Schweih. The trial began on June 21, 2007; but as Schweihs was seriously ill with cancer , he was initially declared unfit to negotiate. According to prison spokesman Vincent Shaw of the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago, Schweihs died on July 23, 2008 in Thorek Memorial Hospital .
