Joseph Lombardo (Mafioso)

Joseph "Jo (ey) the Clown" Lombardo Sr (born January 1, 1929 - October 19, 2019 ) was a high-ranking mobster of the Chicago outfit . He was considered the consigliere of the organization; some even saw him as the head or assumed a leadership trio with John DiFronzo and Joseph Andriacchi .

Life

Lombardo became a member of the American Cosa Nostra in New York City during the 1950s . In 1963 he was arrested for kidnapping but acquitted.

In 1974, charges followed on suspicion of misappropriating $ 1.4 million from the Central States Pension Fund of the Transport Workers' Union ( Teamsters ). However, the witness Daniel Seifert was murdered two days before his subpoena date and the charges were dropped.

Later brought informant government Alva Johnson Rodgers Lombardo next to the death of Seifert with the murders of Robert Harder , Sam Annerino , Raymond Ryan and Allen Dorfman in conjunction. On April 27, 2005, Lombardo was arrested and charged with complicity in 18 murders. The trial with prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald and judge James Zagel was the result of the FBI operation “Family Secrets”, which led to arrests in 2005.

James Marcello , Frank Schweihs , Frank Calabrese, Anthony Doyle, a former police officer, and Paul Schiro were on trial with Lombardo .

Lombardo was convicted of organized crime, extortion , usury of credit and murder on September 10, 2007, and was found guilty of the murder of Daniel Seifert on September 10 in the same jury.

As of October 2007, Lombardo sat in the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago, where he was still waiting for the sentence to be pronounced. In February 2009, Judge Zagel issued a life sentence.
