Frank Shannon

Frank Connolly Shannon (born July 27, 1874 in Ireland , † February 1, 1959 in Hollywood , California ) was an American actor .

Life

From 1909 to 1934 Shannon appeared regularly on Broadway , including in the plays Anna Christie , Elmer Gentry and Young Sinners . Shannon made his film debut in 1912. But it did not attract attention until 1924 in Monsieur Beaucair at the side of Rudolph Valentino and Bebe Daniels . His breakthrough came in 1936 as Dr. Alexis Zarkov in the multi-part science fiction series Flash Gordon . In 1938 Shannon played the Dr. Zarkov in the sequel Flash Gordon's Trip to Mars and 1940 in Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe. At the end of the 1940s, he withdrew into private life. After his death in 1959 he was buried in Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City .
