Frank Stangenberg-Haverkamp

Frank Stangenberg-Haverkamp (* 1948 in Dorsten ) is a German investment banker and entrepreneur.

Career

Frank Stangenberg-Haverkamp is the son of the painter Heidy Stangenberg-Merck and the musician and lyrical poet Karl Stangenberg . After graduating from high school in Marienau (1961–1968), he did his military service in the Air Force and studied economics in Freiburg . There he received his doctorate in economic history . Stangenberg-Haverkamp then worked as an investment banker for Commerzbank , Barings Bank and Hambros Bank in London . Since 1984 he has been a member of the E. Merck KG shareholders' council . In 1994 he became deputy chairman of this body and in 2004 its chairman. The Board of Partners oversees the management of E. Merck KG and Merck KGaA. He is responsible for appointing and dismissing the members of the respective management and must give their approval for important business decisions. On January 28, 2014, Stangenberg-Haverkamp became chairman of the board of E. Merck KG. In this function he is the successor to Jon Baumhauer . Johannes Baillou took over the position of Chairman of the Board of Partners .

Together with Johannes Baillou, Frank Stangenberg-Haverkamp is the top representative of the Merck family of entrepreneurs. He is a direct descendant of Emanuel Merck , the founder of the Merck company and the eleventh generation of Friedrich Jacob Merck's descendants .

Stangenberg-Haverkamp only became known to a broader public in 2006, as part of the hostile takeover attempt of Schering AG by Merck.

From July 2007 to January 2009, Stangenberg-Haverkamp was a member of the MAX Automation Supervisory Board . Previously he was on the supervisory board of Berliner Elektro Holding AG as well as chairman of the supervisory board of BE Semiconductor Industries NV and chairman of the supervisory board of Telcab Ltd.

Stangenberg-Haverkamp is married.
