Frank Witter (Manager)

Frank Witter (* 1959 in Hanover ) is a German economist and Chief Financial Officer of Volkswagen AG .

Career

Witter is a trained savings bank clerk and studied economics at the Leibniz University in Hanover .

Witter has been with Volkswagen AG since 1992. For six years he was responsible for capital market transactions in the group treasury . He then worked in the USA at Volkswagen of America as Treasurer and in 2001 switched to SAirGroup in Zurich , where he worked for one year as Corporate Treasurer.

In 2002 he rose to the post of CFO of the Volkswagen Group of America , Volkswagen Canada Inc., VW Credit Inc. and their subsidiaries and in 2005 he became CEO of Volkswagen of America and Volkswagen Canada Inc. From 2006 to 2007 he held the position of General Manager in Head of Group Management of Volkswagen AG for the North America region. From 2006 to 2007 Witter was responsible for the group management of the North American Volkswagen AG. He then became President and CFO of VW Credit and was responsible for the American market at Volkswagen Financial Services.

In 2015, Witter became a member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG in the Finance and Controlling division and took over the position of CFO as the successor to Hans Dieter Pötsch .

Witter is also chairman of the supervisory board at VfL Wolfsburg .

The Finance magazine has calculated that Witter had received 2019 VW already pension commitments of 10.9 million euros.

Witter has announced that he will leave Volkswagen in 2021 for personal reasons.
