Hans Dieter Pötsch

Hans Dieter Pötsch (born March 28, 1951 in Traun ) is an Austrian manager in the automotive industry and CEO of Porsche SE . He was elected Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Volkswagen AG in October 2015 .

Life

Pötsch studied industrial engineering at the Technical University of Darmstadt .

Act

He began his professional career at BMW , where he worked between 1979 and 1987, most recently as Head of Group Controlling . He then moved to Trumpf GmbH & Co. KG in Ditzingen as Managing Director of Finance & Administration . From 1991 to 1995 Pötsch was chairman of the board at Traub AG , Reichenbach .

In July 1995, Pötsch moved to Dürr AG in Stuttgart. By the end of 2002, he was CEO of Dürr AG and for the Central Functions quality , corporate planning , internal audit and corporate communications responsible.

On January 1, 2003, the Supervisory Board of Volkswagen AG appointed Pötsch a full member of the Board of Management, initially without a division. In September 2003, he took over responsibility for the finance and controlling division at group level on the board. Since November 25, 2009, Pötsch has been a member of the executive board of Porsche Automobil Holding in addition to his previous functions . He held the position of Chief Financial Officer until October 2015, when he was appointed CEO of Porsche SE with effect from November 1, 2015. Volkswagen took over Scania and MAN under the aegis of Pötsch ; He was also responsible for drawing up the basic agreement with Porsche and for integrating Porsche into the group.

On September 3, 2015, Volkswagen AG announced that Pötsch would initially be elected to the supervisory board and later as chairman of the supervisory board at an extraordinary general meeting in November 2015 . In the wake of the VW emissions scandal , this step was brought forward to October 7, 2015. Pötschs successor in the Board of Finance and Controlling was Frank Witter .
