The Frankenstudio in Sickershausen is a museum with a library on local history in Lower Franconia. The collections contain historical documents, images and maps on regional natural history and geography , finds on geological history and folklore objects.

history

Andreas Pampuch had the idea to create the Frankenstudio. With his collection he wanted to give the young people in the Kitzingen area in particular a local opportunity to get to know the surrounding nature, historical evidence and local customs. For this he collected and promoted the regional nature, the understanding of customs and the history of his new home through lectures and excursions.

He rented rooms near his apartment as the collection grew. Finally, the history of the Frankenstudios began when Sickershausen was incorporated into Kitzingen on January 1st, 1975. Now the historic town hall had free rooms. These were made available by the town of Kitzingen on February 6th, 1975 for the storage of his collections on the upper floor of the then district home nurse Andreas Pampuch . This even gave them a matching shell in the historic building.

After Pampuch, Rudolf Krauss took over the management of the Frankenstudios in 1984. He complements and runs it on a voluntary basis with the support of home-loving helpers in his own way. In 2003, the archive material from the incorporated towns of Repperndorf and Sickershausen that had been stored here was transferred to the Kitzingen city archive .

building

Ceramic collection in the wood-paneled meeting room

The Frankenstudio is housed in the historic town hall of Sickershausen. The half-timbered building was part of the former fortified church. The board next to the entrance reports the year of construction and who, as mayor, was responsible. The dungeon in the tower-like extension and the old town hall hall with its wonderful woodwork are well worth seeing. The collections on the upper floor have been open to the public since 1977. The ceramic collection comes into its own in the wood-paneled conference room.

Rudolf Krauss, the director of the Frankenstudios, explains the building during children's afternoons. He explains the structure of the framework and what materials were used on site. Technical terms such as "wild man", "cobbler stool", "chest bar", "underlay", "stand" and "stalk" are filled with content.

The profession of night watchman is presented in the dungeon of the tower-like extension . He had numerous important tasks to perform in the village: fire protection guards, community servants, grave diggers, massmen and law enforcement officers. He took troublemakers into custody in the dungeon.
