Michael Hoppe (* 1966 in Leverkusen ) is a German church music consultant in the Aachen diocese and cathedral organist at Aachen Cathedral .

Live and act

After finishing school, Michael Hoppe studied at the Robert Schumann University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf with Paul Heuser , Wolfgang Seifen , Hans-Dieter Möller and Raimund Wippermann, church music A-diploma and organ music . Subsequently, at the Cologne University of Music and Dance, the degree course "Choir Conducting Diploma" followed. After Michael Hoppe had already worked as a lecturer at the Musikhochschule in Düsseldorf in previous years, he was appointed professor for organ playing and musical composition at the Catholic University for Church Music St. Gregorius in Aachen in 2001 . In addition, he was Vice Rector of the university. In 2005 he became church music advisor for the diocese of Aachen and in December 2018 he received the title of diocesan church music director. From 2006 to 2014 he taught composition at the University of Music and Dance Cologne, Aachen department. On July 1, 2013, Hoppe was appointed cathedral organist at Aachen Cathedral as the successor to Norbert Richtsteig .

One focus of Hoppes' church music work is introducing children to Christian songs and for this purpose, in collaboration with Steffen Schreyer , Thomas Quast and Christoph Seeger, he compiled and published the Catholic children's song book "Sei ein Note in Gottes Melodie" as well as the children's musical "Der Beginning "composed.
