Frankfurt film show
The Frankfurter Filmschau (also: Filmschau Frankfurt) was a film festival in Hesse that took place annually between 1988 and 2005 .
history
The Frankfurter Filmschau was organized by the Filmbüro Hessen , which was responsible for film funding in Hesse in the 80s and 90s. All films that had received Hessian film funding or had won Hessian sponsorship awards were shown there. The film show was intended to offer a platform to young talents in particular, so the focus was particularly on short and experimental films as well as regional young directors.
In 2002 Wim Wenders tried to expand the show into an international film festival. Wenders invited almost 80 filmmakers from all over the world. The climax of the film was a retrospective of Italian film directed by Martin Scorsese .
The Frankfurt Film Show took place for the last time in 2005, with 91 contributors and the road movie SommerHundeSöhne as the opening film.
