František Hečko

František Hečko (born June 10, 1905 in Suchá nad Parnou near Trnava , Slovakia; † March 1, 1960 in Martin , Slovakia) was a Slovak poet, prose writer and publicist.

Hečko studied at the agricultural college from 1922 to 1926 and then worked as an auditor for the agricultural cooperative from 1928 to 1945. After the end of the Second World War he worked in the national cultural institute of Slovakia Matica slovenská until 1953 and then became chairman of the Writers' Union, which he remained until 1956.

A connection with his homeland was always important to Hečko. After the end of the Second World War he became a representative of socialist realism .
