František Hegenbarth
František Hegenbarth ( Franz Hegenbarth ; born May 10, 1818 in Kerhartice (Gersdorf), † December 20, 1887 in Prague ) was a Czech cellist and music teacher.
Life
Hegenbarth studied from 1831 to 1837 at the Prague Conservatory with Johann Baptist Hüttner . He was a cellist in the orchestras of the Graz, Linz and Lemberg theaters and taught from 1844 to 1865 as a professor at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and from 1865 at the Prague Conservatory. His students included Otakar Berger , Hanuš Wihan , Mořic Blodek , Josef Kompit and Heinrich Grünfeld . As a chamber musician he played in a quartet with Anton Bennewitz , Vojtěch Hřímalý and Franz Deutsch and in a trio with Bedřich Smetana and Anton Bennewitz. In 1869 he published 18 exercises for the violoncello .
