František Plass (born April 18, 1944 in Pilsen ) is a former Czech football player and coach .
Club career
František Plass started playing football at Dynamo ČSD Pilsen, and completed his military service with Dukla Slaný. In 1963, the defender moved to Spartak Pilsen . For the club, which was renamed Škoda Pilsen in 1965, Plass completed 164 first division games in which he scored 16 goals.
In the 1970/71 season, Plass won the Czech Cup with Škoda Pilsen . The final of the Czechoslovak Cup was lost to Spartak Trnava , but because the Slovaks were also national champions, Pilsen started in the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1971/72 . The team was eliminated by FC Bayern Munich in the first round .
In the last year of his career, 1976/77, Plass played for RH Cheb .
National team
Plass' national team career was characterized by the fact that his club commuted between the first and second division. The defender made his debut for Czechoslovakia on April 27, 1968 in the game against Yugoslavia in Bratislava . It was used regularly for the next year and a half. In the qualifying game against Hungary for the 1970 World Cup on September 14, 1969, he was substituted at halftime, which meant that his national team career was over for the time being. In 1972 Plass returned for three friendlies - after eleven games for Czechoslovakia it was finally over.
Coaching career
After his active career, Plass took over as head coach RH Cheb, but soon moved back to the second row as an assistant coach . From 1981 to 1984 he coached Škoda Pilsen in the 2nd division. In 1987 Plass went to Chmel Blšany , a year later he rose to the fourth division with the then fifth division, and in 1990 even to the third division. Two years later, Plass moved to Dukla Prague , but was dismissed after the first half of the 1992/93 season.
Then Plass coached the third division club FK Armaturka Ústí nL , in the 1994/95 season he was a coach at Union Cheb and saw the end of the club in 1996. In the 1996/97 game year he coached the third division SK Rakovník .
