František Skála (born February 7, 1956 in Prague ) is a Czech sculptor, painter and illustrator.

Skála graduated from high school with a focus on wood carving and studied film graphics at the University of Applied Sciences in Prague. In 1978 he was a founding member of the artist group Tvrdohlaví (" Stubborn "). In 1993 Skála exhibited in the Czech pavilion at the Venice Biennale . He traveled on foot and presented works of art created along the way. Among other things, Skála had solo exhibitions in the Rudolfinum Gallery in 2004 and in the National Gallery in Prague 2017. He owns a listed Meierhof on the Dřevíč northwest of Prague.

Skála uses natural materials, such as found objects and debris, but also unusual plastics. It is based on forms from nature or on the handicrafts of archaic peoples. An integral part of his art are photography , illumination and performance .
