Frantics

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Frantics is a party game for up to four players, developed exclusively for the PlayStation 4 by the Danish developer studio NapNok Games . The video game supports the link system, in which not the controller , but a smartphone or a tablet computer with Android - or iOS - the operating system as an input device is used for input. Frantics was first presented at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2017 in Los Angeles and was released on March 14, 2018.

requirements

In addition to downloading or purchasing a physical version of the game for the PlayStation 4, an additional app must be installed, which is available free of charge in the Google Play Store for Android operating systems or in the App Store for devices with iOS operating systems. It is also a necessary technical requirement that all devices are in the same WLAN network so that communication between the game console and the mobile devices is possible. If there is no wireless connection, a Wi-Fi hotspot can be set up on the PlayStation 4, which allows the integration of mobile devices.

Game flow

It is in Frantics a mini-game collection, which take up to four players against each other. Each player chooses a cartoon character such as a pig, chicken, elk or dog as an avatar and must try to win most of the games to emerge as the overall winner. The mini-games have an amusing tone and live from the glee. For example, you have to jump off a cliff together and be the last to open a parachute. The project is made more difficult by the fact that an oversized stylized stick of dynamite is thrown back and forth between the opponents. Another challenge, called King of the Hill, is to push opponents into an abyss on a slippery surface of ice in order to be the last player left and receive the win in the form of coins. The collection of 15 different games is moderated by the character of Mr. Fox. This not only presents the rules in a sarcastic tone, but also manipulates the other players by sending additional hidden tasks to the screen or handicaps.

reception

First reports from the trade press, which have already been able to test the game, praise the successful implementation of the structures of well-known party games, the simple controls and the funny moderation by the host, Mr. Fox.
