Franz-Domes-Hof
The Franz-Domes-Hof is a listed urban residential complex in Vienna - Margareten . It is located at Margaretengürtel 126-134.
Building description
The Franz-Domes-Hof was built in 1928/30 by the German architect Peter Behrens as a municipal residential complex. It was named after the President of the Chamber of Labor and member of the National Council, Franz Domes . At the left entrance there is a relief portrait of Franz Domes, designed by Alfons Riedel .
Originally, the courtyard was closed by a component that housed a day-care center. This was destroyed by bombs in World War II. There are trees in this area today. In 1995 the courtyard was closed again, this time at the front of the street, by a new building.
At the right entrance is the relief Der Lichtbringer by Mario Petrucci , which bears the inscription "Light in the apartment - sun in the heart", depicts a person with arms stretched upwards and symbolizes both the cult of the body and knowledge and enlightenment. Otherwise, this system is structured by rows of balconies and glazed staircases.
