Franz Domes
Franz Domes (born June 25, 1863 in Vienna ; † July 11, 1930 ibid) was an Austrian trade unionist and politician ( Social Democratic Workers' Party ).
Franz Domes learned after visiting the elementary school and public school the profession of locksmith . He became involved in the trade union movement early on, and was a co-founder of the metalworkers' association. In 1898 he became secretary of this association and in 1918 its chairman.
In 1906 he became a member of the City Council of Vienna and belonged to it until 1920, from 1911 to 1918 he was a member of the Reichsrat . In 1918/19 he was a member of the Provisional National Assembly and in 1919/20 a member of the Constituent National Assembly . From 1920 to 1930 he was a member of the National Council . The focus of his parliamentary work was on social legislation. From 1920 Domes was President of the Chamber of Labor for Vienna and Lower Austria and President of the Austrian Chamber of Labor.
Franz Domes died in 1930 and was buried in the urn grove of the Simmering fire hall (Department ML, Group 10, Number 1G), the grave was designed by Hugo Taglang . A residential complex built by Peter Behrens in the 5th district of Vienna Margareten in the late 1920s was named Franz-Domes-Hof . The Franz-Domes-Heim , built between 1951 and 1952, also bore his name.
