Hans Hautmann
Hans Hautmann (born August 22, 1943 in Vienna ; † July 3, 2018 in Vienna ) was an Austrian contemporary historian .
Live and act
Hans Hautmann came from a family belonging to the labor movement , his father was Rudolf Hautmann (senior) . He passed the Matura at the Gymnasium Stubenbastei and then studied history and German at the University of Vienna . From 1966 to 1968 he worked at the documentation archive of the Austrian resistance in Vienna. In the same year he was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD. In 1969/70 he worked as a contract employee at the chair for modern history and contemporary history at today's Johannes Kepler University Linz with Karl R. Stadler. From May 1970 he was an assistant at this institute, in 1981 he became head of the department for Austrian history there, and in 1982 he was granted the license to teach as a university lecturer for modern history and contemporary history. Since October 1997, Hautmann has held the title ao. University professor, for several years he was head of the Institute for Modern History and Contemporary History.
From 1993 to 2005 Hautmann was President of the Archives and Library Association of the KPÖ , the Alfred Klahr Society , and from 1998 to 2007 President of the “Association for the Promotion of Research on the History of Justice”. In August 1971, Hautmann finally joined the KPÖ at the age of 28. Hans Hautmann was retired on August 1st, 2005. In 1973, Hautmann was awarded the Theodor-Körner-Stiftungsfonds , in 1987 the Upper Austrian Chamber of Labor Prize for scientific work, and in 1988 the Victor-Adler State Prize for the History of the Labor Movement.
Hautmann's older brother was the architect Rudolf Hautmann , his sister-in-law was the set designer and artist Klara Hautmann-Kiss , who worked at the New Theater in the Scala . Hans Hautmann died in July 2018 at the age of 74.
Hans Hautmann's publications deal primarily with the main research areas of the Austrian and international labor movement, the council movement and council theory , the history of revolution and the theory of revolution, the history of Austria in the 19th and 20th centuries, the First World War , the history of criminal law, criminal justice and the penal system, and military justice in Austria-Hungary. He was buried in the cemetery of the fire hall in Simmering (Section 7, Ring 3, Group 1, No. 40).
