Klara Hautmann-Kiss

Klara Hautmann-Kiss (born October 8, 1920 in Vienna as Klara Kiss ; † October 25, 2000 in Vienna) was an Austrian architect , set designer and painter .

Life

Hautmann-Kiss had to leave Austria with her parents and siblings in 1938 for racial reasons and lived in London until 1945. During her emigration she completed an apprenticeship as a precision mechanic , worked as a technical draftsman and was active in the Young Austria organization. After her return to Vienna she studied set design with Emil Pirchan at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and after completing her studies she worked at the “ New Theater in der Scala ” (sets for the plays “Die Donaubrücke” 1951, “Tom Sawyer's great Adventure "1952 and" Lysistrata "1953). She then completed her architecture studies with Roland Rainer and worked with Rudolf Hautmann (junior) , with whom she married in 1959, in a permanent artistic studio community. In 1980 she received her doctorate in Graz. techn. with the dissertation residential parks and their structural design . Her oil paintings, watercolors, clay figures and clay heads (by Viktor Matejka , Alfred Hrdlicka , Ernst Fuchs and Otto Tausig , among others , with whom she was friends) were exhibited several times in galleries in Vienna. Hautmann-Kiss was buried in the same grave as her father-in-law Rudolf Hautmann (senior) at the cemetery of the Simmering fire hall (Department 7, Ring 3, Group 1, No. 99).
