Rob Schneiderman

Robert "Rob" Schneiderman (* 21st June 1957 in Boston ) is an American jazz - pianist , composer . Arranger and university professor.

Rob Schneiderman grew up in California; his musician career began in San Diego , where he accompanied musicians such as Eddie Harris , Sonny Stitt , Harold Land and Charles McPherson in guest performances. In 1982 he moved to New York, where he played in the bands of JJ Johnson , Chet Baker , James Moody , Art Farmer , Clifford Jordan , George Coleman , Jimmy Heath , Claudio Roditi and Slide Hampton .

In collaboration with Hampton, Schneiderman's first album was created under his own name for the Reservoir ( New Outlook ) label in January 1988, on which Rufus Reid and Akira Tana participated. Other accompanying musicians on his albums on Reservoir were u. a Billy Higgins , Brian Lynch , Ralph Moore , Peter Washington , Lewis Nash , Billy Hart , Gary Smulyan and Ben Riley . Rob Schneiderman also appeared as a sideman on albums by Eddie Harris , JJ Johnson ( Vivian , 1992), Fred Hersch ( Last Night When We Were Young , 1994) and Akira Tana / Rufus Reid. In 2000 he recorded the album Edgewise in a trio with Ray Drummond and Winard Harper , with reinterpretations of Bud Powell classics, Thelonious Monks In Walked Bud and Oscar Pettiford's Blues in the Closet. In 2019 he played in Tad Shull's quartet .

As a college professor, he has taught the jazz classes at William Paterson University and Queens College in New York.
