Franz-Josef Berg

Franz-Josef Berg (born April 20, 1957 in Dillingen ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and mayor of Dillingen. He was also a member of the Saarland state parliament from 1999 to 2004 .

Life and work

Franz-Josef Berg finished his school career in 1976 with the Abitur at the state high school in Dillingen and then did his military service from 1976 to 1977. From 1977 to 1982 he studied Catholic theology, history and education. In 1982 he passed his first and in 1984 his second state examination for teaching. From 1984 to 1987 he worked as an education officer for the Stefanus Community in the dioceses of Trier and Speyer . From 1987 to 1990 he was employed as state manager at the Junge Union Saar and from 1990 to 1999 as a research assistant at the CDU state office. During his time as a member of the state parliament he was not employed any longer and after leaving the state parliament in 2004 he took over the electoral and full-time mayor's office in Dillingen.

Franz-Josef Berg joined the Junge Union and the CDU parent party in 1975 . From 1975 to 1981 he took over the chairmanship of the Junge Union in Leases and then from 1981 to 1986 the chairmanship of the Junge Union in the city of Dillingen. From 1985 to 1991 he was chairman of the CDU local association for leasing and since 1991 of the CDU city association of Dillingen. In addition, he has been a member of the CDU district board of Saarlouis since 1996 and has been the district chairman of the CDU district board of Saarlouis since 2008.

He was a member of the city council of Dillingen from 1979 to 2004 and chairman of the parliamentary group from 1989 to 2004. Between 1999 and 2004 he was elected to the Saarland state parliament. Since 2004 he has been elected mayor of his hometown Dillingen.
