Franz-Josef Heuser

Franz-Josef Heuser (* 1951 in Euskirchen ) is a German officer ( lieutenant colonel retired ) and museum director.

Heuser originally comes from the Rhineland. He went through the career of officers of the troop service in the army of the German armed forces, in 1998 he became head of inspections at the army officers' school in Dresden. From 2003 to 2006 he was the successor to the military historian Thomas Eugen Scheerer director of the leading museum of the Bundeswehr, the Military History Museum (MHM) in Dresden. As such, he was also editor of the MHM series Collecting, Researching, Preserving, Exhibiting . In 2004, the renovation of the museum began by the architect Daniel Libeskind . In 2006 Heuser retired from service; Matthias Rogg was his successor .
