Franz-Josef Wokittel

Franz-Josef Wokittel (born December 2, 1938 in Lanisch , Breslau district ) is a German Roman Catholic clergyman.

Life

After the expulsion from Silesia , Wokittel passed the Abitur at Heinrich-Mann-Gymnasium Erfurt . From 1957 to 1961 he studied Catholic theology in Erfurt at the Philosophical-Theological Studies , today's Catholic-Theological Faculty. He was given the sacrament of ordination in 1963 by Auxiliary Bishop Joseph Freusberg . From 1963 to 1966 Wokittel worked as a chaplain and dean's youth pastor in Nordhausen , then from 1967 to 1970 as a parish curate in Gerstungen and as a pastoral officer for the dean's office in Eisenach . From 1970 to 2005 he was pastor of the parish of St. Severi on the Erfurt Cathedral Hill . In addition, Wokittel had been pastor in the Erfurt correctional facility since 1990 and pastor of the Erfurt parish of St. Martini since 1997 .

In 2004 Franz-Josef Wokittel was awarded the Order of Merit of the Free State of Thuringia by Prime Minister Dieter Althaus . Pastor Wokittel has been retired since 2015.
