Marcel Avram

Marcel Avram (born March 1, 1938 in Bucharest , Romania ) is a German concert and tour organizer .

Life

Avram's father was Greek and his mother was Romanian of Jewish faith. After the family was evicted, they fled to Israel in 1948. The move to Frankfurt am Main followed in 1952 .

In 1970 Avram founded the “ Mama Concerts ” agency with Marek Lieberberg . In 1986 the two organizers parted ways in a dispute.

In January 1989, Mama Concerts merged with the concert agency “ Lippmann & Rau ”, which became “Mama Concerts and Rau”. The agency implemented tours for musicians such as Michael Jackson , Tina Turner , Frank Sinatra and Prince . Avram was the worldwide agent, producer and promoter of Michael Jackson's world tours in 1982, 1984, 1985, 1987 and 1993. He performed these tours in Europe, Asia, Australia and South America. He also produced the tours for Rod Stewart in the US and Canada, Japan and throughout Europe, with over 500 concerts.

In 1991 Marcel Avram was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon . He was arrested in 1997 for alleged irregularities in tax returns and later sentenced to 3.5 years in prison. After a year he was paroled. He later returned his Federal Cross of Merit because he felt that the judiciary had treated him unfairly.

In the summer of 1999 Avram first moved back to Israel. After Rau and Avram closed their joint agency, Avram settled in Switzerland. There he founded the company Entertainment One and later Concerts West AG. Avram sits on the supervisory board of the Munich concert and tour operator United Promoters AG.

Awards

In 2006 Avram was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Live Entertainment Award . Fritz Rau gave the laudatory speech.

In 2015 Avram received the Bottle Award (Ehren-Arthur-Award) at the international music fair ILMC for his achievements in the music industry.

Private

Her marriage to Miriam Rappaport, divorced in 2001, resulted in two daughters. He is married to Sabine Hirsch for the second time.
