Franz Agricola
Franz Agricola (* between 1545 and 1550 in Lohn ; † December 4, 1621 in Sittard ) was a German Catholic controversial theologian .
Live and act
Franz Agricola studied in Cologne and Leuven and was ordained priest in Liège . From 1569 he worked as a pastor in Rödingen and in 1581 changed to Sittard as pastor and canon . From 1599 he also held the office of land dean of the dean's office in Süsteren in the diocese of Roermond . He wrote many pamphlets in German and Latin and campaigned against the persecution of witches . In this context he wrote the particularly noteworthy fundamental report, Whether magic is the worst and most growing sin on earth , which appeared in Cologne in 1597.
