Franz de Paula Antoine the younger (born February 23, 1815 in the Paradeisgartel at the Löwelbastei in Vienna ; † March 11, 1886 ) was from 1847 an imperial court gardener in the Hofburggarten at the Hofburg in Vienna . Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Antoine ".

Antoine was the son of the gardener of the same name . In 1865 he was promoted to court garden director of all imperial court gardens in the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. In the course of the reform of the court garden service, however, he had to give up responsibility for the remaining court gardens in 1869, but retained his title and his official residence in the Burggarten in Vienna and from then on devoted himself even more intensively to his scientific activities, including his important bromeliad collection. Franz Antoine the Elder J. was also a major amateur photographer. He presented his photographs, almost exclusively plant studies, still lifes and views of Vienna, to the public at three exhibitions in Vienna in 1864 and 1873 and in Paris in 1867.
