Franz Anton (born October 23, 1989 in Lutherstadt Wittenberg ) is a German slalom canoeist and two-time world champion. His main discipline is the men's single canoe (C1). Since the 2012 season he has also competed in the two-man canoe (C2) together with Jan Benzien . Franz Anton's sporting career began in a children's gymnastics club at a fencing club. His grandfather Horst Schubert already competed in fencing at the World Championships in Modern Pentathlon in Mexico in 1962 and was the first athlete to participate in World Championships for the GDR. His mother took him to a Meissen canoe club, where he had been training since 1998, when he was advertised. Since 2006 he has been part of the national squad of German juniors, with which he became Junior European Champion in 2007. Since 2010 he has been part of the German senior national team. His greatest successes are winning the world championship in two-man canoes together with Benzien in 2015 and the world championship in one-canoe in 2018.

After finishing high school at a school in Dresden, Franz Anton completed extensive training with the Saxon Police from 2009 to 2014 , where he is part of the sports promotion group.
