Franz Berghoff-Ising

Franz Berghoff-Ising (born April 18, 1858 in Menzel (Rüthen) , † April 23, 1920 in Buchschlag ) was a German economist and university professor .

Life

He was born in April 1858 in Menzel near Lippstadt . After graduation, he studied in Berlin, Freiburg and Heidelberg. He completed his studies in 1885 with a doctorate in philosophy. The title of his dissertation was: "State law of inheritance and inheritance tax". He then worked as a lecturer at the University of Bern .

In 1898 he was appointed to an extraordinary professor for economics at the general department of the TH Darmstadt . He was the successor of Otto Roquette (1824–1896) and founder of economics at the TH Darmstadt , albeit with a completely different orientation . From 1906 Berghoff-Ising was also a member of the Central Office for State Statistics in Darmstadt. In 1907 his position was changed to an extraordinary professor.

Berghoff-Ising, along with 32 other professors at the TH Darmstadt, was one of the signatories of the declaration by university lecturers of the German Reich of October 16, 1914.

In 1919 his professorship was changed to a full professor because of the increased importance of economics.

Franz Berghoff-Ising died shortly after his 62nd birthday in Buchschlag. He married on September 1, 1884 in Heiligenstadt / Eichsfeld Maria Josephine Elisabeth Grimme (born September 11, 1859 in Paderborn). From 1888 he was married to Gerda Eisenlohr († June 7, 1924 in Darmstadt). This marriage ended in divorce. On September 26, 1908, he married Johanna Babette Anna Klietsch in Frankfurt am Main (born June 3, 1877 in Höchst, † April 26, 1953 in Darmstadt.)
