Franz Bieber

Franz Bieber (* 1892 ; † 1980 ) was a German motorcycle racing driver, motorsport official and entrepreneur.

Life

The Munich-based bike - Wholesaler Franz Bieber was among the pioneers of the German motorcycle racing . After the First World War he was sports director of the Munich Automobile Club (ACM) and in the early 1920s he was involved in the development of their first motorcycle model , the R 32 , at Bayerische Motoren Werke under Rudolf Schleicher .

In June 1924, Bieber won the 500 cm³ class of the ADAC's first German motorcycle road championship on an R 37 . In this and the following year, the ADAC and the DMV held separate championships. The ADAC determined the German champions in 1924 in just one race as part of the Schleizer triangle race . A few weeks later, Franz Bieber also won the half-liter race of the II. Eifel Tour around Nideggen and the Ruselberg race in the Bavarian Forest .

Later, as organizer and sports commissioner , he played a key role in Ernst Jakob Hennes ' first world record runs .
