Franz Bogner (Mayor)

Franz Bogner (born May 10, 1875 in Passau ; † August 25, 1956 ) was a German doctor and local politician ( SPD ).

Career

Bogner attended the humanistic grammar school in Passau and then studied at the universities in Munich and Erlangen . As a young doctor, he came to Selb in 1906 , where he examined the health and mortality conditions of the porcelain workers and received his doctorate in 1909. From 1911 to 1933 he was a doctor at the city hospital in Selb. The recognition of the pneumonia as an occupational disease goes back largely to him.

From 1924 he belonged to the city council of Selb as a member of the SPD parliamentary group . After the takeover of the Nazis he was in 1933 on time and pensionslos released from the hospital service. On January 30, 1946, he was re-elected to the city council and on July 5, 1948, he was elected mayor . During his tenure, a new school center was built that bears his name today. He was confirmed in office in 1952 and resigned on April 30, 1956. He passed away four months later.
