Franz Burgey

Franz Burgey (born February 5, 1927 in Landshut ; † August 18, 2018 in Linden ) was a German Roman Catholic priest and theologian .

Life

After the Second World War, Burgey began studying philosophy and theology in Freising and Munich . Michael von Faulhaber ordained him a priest in 1952 . In 1965 he became rector of the archbishop's seminary for catechesis and pastoral care in Munich. From 1973 to 1989 Burgey was head of the Munich department for religious education and church education at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt . In his retirement he worked as a pastor in Linden and Lochen in the Bad Tölz district .

Act

Burgey broke new ground when setting up the Munich department of the religious education department . In his research he dealt intensively with the border issues between theology, technology , science and philosophy. Burgey saw God as the creator of everything, including technical devices. Burgey also dealt with the differences between Calvinism and Catholicism and their effects on the economic and technical development of the corresponding societies.

Honor

Burgey was given the title of Spiritual Councilor .
