Franz Carl Anton Egloff

Franz Carl Anton Egloff (born April 1, 1679 in Baden ; † June 28, 1741 in Innsbruck ) was a Swiss doctor, professor and rector at the University of Innsbruck .

Life

Franz Carl Anton Egloff (von Statthof) was a son of Franz Carl Egloff (von Statthof) from Baden in Switzerland. The addition of Statthof to the name refers to the internationally known Kurgasthof, which was acquired by his grandfather and has been in the family for generations.

He was married to Maria Anna Grass von Grassegg (1676–1758), with whom he had 11 children, including Franz Caspar Benedikt Egloff , who was also a professor of medicine in Innsbruck.

Services

In 1716 Franz Carl Anton Egloff took over the teaching post for anatomy at the University of Innsbruck , which he held until 1740. He was court physician and three times rector and wrote, among other things, an “Anthropologia Anatomica”, which was widely recognized as a standard work.

In 1727 he was knighted.
