Franz Caspar Barkhausen

Franz Caspar Barkhausen (* around 1636 in Horn ; † May 1715 in Detmold ) was a German lawyer, archivist and librarian.

Life

Franz Caspar Barkhausen was the oldest son of Conrad Barkhausen and Margarethe Elisabeth born. Niebecker. He attended the illustrious grammar school in Bremen and studied law in Marburg. In Speyer he completed an apprenticeship at the Reich Chamber of Commerce there , after which he settled as a lawyer at Hornschen Tor in Detmold. From July 1665, Franz Caspar Barkhausen was procurator and count's archivist . At the same time he was entrusted with the management of today's Lippische Landesbibliothek . On June 12, 1667, he married Katharina Juliane Lucanus (1647–1723) in Detmold, the daughter of the Oberamtmann Hermann Lucanus. With her he had four sons who enjoyed an academic education. In addition, his nephew Johann Conrad Barkhausen lived with him after the death of his parents and grandparents and attended the provincial school in Detmold. Barkhausen fulfilled his professional duties until his death in May 1715. He was buried on May 17, 1715.
