Franz Christoph (publicist)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Franz Christoph (born July 2, 1953 in Furth im Wald , † December 28, 1996 in Berlin ) was a German publicist and co-founder of the cripple movement .

Life

In 1977 Christoph founded the first group of cripples in Germany together with Horst Frehe in Bremen. Politically, the group did not demand integration, but wanted to see the “non-disabled public confronted with their own inadequacies” (Sierck).

Franz Christoph was a close observer of social discussions about “removing taboos” from the subject of “ euthanasia ”. Here he particularly criticized the weekly newspaper Die Zeit . Christoph was one of the first critics in Germany of the theses of the Australian bioethicist Peter Singer , which he described as a "call to murder". He claimed that there was a close connection between racism and Singer's theses.

Franz Christoph also caused a stir with actions like the one on June 18, 1981, when he hit Federal President Karl Carstens in front of the legs with his walking aid at a public event. Udo Sierck, author of the book “The Benefactor Mafia - From Hereditary Health Court to Human Genetic Counseling”, commented on the campaign: “The blow was aimed at the lying patrons who talked about integration and togetherness, but who refused to admit the open and hidden discrimination of disabled people . "

Quote

“After the Nazis' murder of the disabled was accompanied by terms such as' beautiful death 'or' mercy death ', the original' positive 'meaning of the word should have served its purpose even with a poorly developed historical awareness. Euthanasia actually means mass murder. Anyone who evaluates the Nazi victims differently mocks the euthanasia victims and ultimately makes different evaluations of human life socially acceptable again. "
