Franz Cisar (born November 28, 1908 ) was an Austrian football player . At the beginning of his career he played in the position of a runner and was a successful goalscorer, but later he played mostly as a defender Franz Cisar participated as a national player in the World Cup in 1934 , but was no longer from Hugo Meisl after the disappointing 4th place called into the team.

Career

Franz Cisar began his career in favorites at Hertha in the second division. With 103 goals in 24 games and only one defeat, however, he rose to the first division with the blue-whites in 1927. There he finished 6th in his first first division season with Hertha and was the club's top scorer with 16 goals. Franz Cisar soon moved from the small Viennese suburban club Hertha in the spring of 1929 to Austria for a short time and then to Vienna AC . With the athletes he was able to win the cup in 1931 , which was held on points that season. This authorized the WAC to participate in the Mitropapokal , the forerunner of the European Cup, where they sensationally reached the final. Franz Cisar contributed a goal in the play-off of the semi-final against Sparta Prague . In the purely Austrian final, however, he and his club lost to the master Vienna . In the next season, Franz Cisar also reached the cup final with his club, but lost to Admira with 1: 6. In the championship, however, Cisar was never able to play for the title with the WAC and finally left the club in 1935 for abroad. First he played for one season at Moravská Slavia Brno before moving to FC Metz in France. In 1937 he returned to Czechoslovakia and played for SK Prostějov .

Franz Cisar made his debut in the national team on October 1, 1933 in a 2-2 draw against "arch rivals" Hungary . After some convincing performances in the team, Hugo Meisl nominated him as a defender together with his club colleague Karl Sesta for the 1934 World Cup in Italy , in which Austria was eliminated after a dubious referee performance in the semi-finals against the hosts. The soccer world championship was also Franz Cisar's last appearance on the Austrian national team.
