Franz Clemens Schiffer

Franz Clemens Schiffer (born November 23, 1896 ; † November 21, 1940 ) was a German officer , district administrator and mayor .

Life

Schiffer served in the First World War . He became a member of the NSDAP in 1927 . In the meantime he left the party and rejoined in 1932. In 1935 he was inspector of the NSDAP in Gau Pomerania . He was also a member of the Sturmabteilung (SA). From February 1, 1938 to November 21, 1940 Schiffer officiated as district administrator for the Züllichau-Schwiebus district . In 1939 he was drafted into the Air Force . At the end of the attack on Poland, he worked as city and country commissioner in Przemyśl .

From December 1, 1939 to May 21, 1940, Schiffer was appointed city commissioner or mayor of the city of Lodsch / Litzmannstadt ( Łódź in Polish ).

In 1940 he was killed on the Western Front while flying over Great Britain .
